Built by a woman who believed food security should be led by women, not handed to them.
SwadYum began as a simple, stubborn idea: that the women who feed their families and communities every single day are the ones best placed to lead India's food security — not stand on the sidelines of it.
Yamini Parashar
Yamini Parashar founded SwadYum to put women at the centre of India's food economy — not as workers in someone else's kitchen, but as owners of their own. She also founded iVIRTH, the organisation behind SwadYum's tools and infrastructure, and is currently pursuing a PhD at IIIT Vadodara, Diu Campus.
Her work treats food security as a solvable, local problem — one that's best solved when women have the means to produce and sell food themselves, backed by each other's support.
One mission, two doors in
Every woman who comes to SwadYum starts in one of two places — and many move through both.
1. She joins SEED
She Empowers Every Day is the front door — a WhatsApp community and channel where women connect, ask questions, and learn what's possible before committing to anything.
2. She picks a format
Pop-up Kiosk for low-cost, high-mobility selling. Cloud Kitchen for delivery-led cooking. In-Home or Terrace Garden for women who want to grow, not cook.
3. She gets routed correctly
Kiosk and Cloud Kitchen applicants move into the SwadYum operations portal for onboarding. Terrace Garden applicants fill a short form so our team can understand the specific space, light, and capacity available.
4. She produces, and earns
From there, she's a producer — part of India's first Women Producer Organisation, selling under the SwadYum name with the backing of the brand and the community.
The values behind the motto
No one sleeps hungry
Every decision SwadYum makes is tested against this one line. It's not a slogan — it's the filter.
Women own the means
Producers aren't employees of SwadYum — they're the organisation. A WPO structure means women hold a real stake.
Start small, start real
A kiosk, a terrace, a home kitchen — SwadYum meets women where they already are, instead of demanding scale upfront.
